New research shows emotional triggers drive belief in fake news

Ever wonder why so-called 鈥渇ake news鈥� seems to make the rounds faster than factual information does? 麻豆代天府 researcher Aaron French says the answer lies in human emotion. In a study published in the Information Systems Frontiers journal, French, an associate professor in the Michael J. Coles College of Business examined how and why people choose to believe and spread false information online. He found that emotional appeal was the strongest factor that determined belief.

STRIVE Program celebrates first cohort of military entrepreneurs

When Megan Andrews signed up for 麻豆代天府鈥檚 STRIVE entrepreneurship program, she had a business idea but needed help bringing it to life. Andrews was a participant in the inaugural cohort of STRIVE, an acronym for Startup Training Resources to Inspire Veteran Entrepreneurship, a free program offered by the Michael J. Coles College of Business at KSU in partnership with Syracuse University Institute for Veterans and Military Families, designed to help veterans and their families succeed in entrepreneurship.

The annual Elevator Pitch Challenge, a highlight of KSU鈥檚 Professional Sales program, took place at TK Elevator鈥檚 offices in Atlanta. As one of the world鈥檚 leading manufacturers of elevators and escalators, TK Elevator provided the perfect backdrop for the challenge, where each student had 60 seconds to pitch their personal brand to company executives while ascending 420 feet in Atlanta's fastest elevator.
